Hey Greg, What’s up with the house?
Hi folks. Well, those of you who know Merja and I know that we’re selling our house in Santee
and moving up north to the town of Weimar. Weimar is so small that we don’t have a mayor,
or even a post office. So we share our zip code with the city of
Colfax which is right up the road.
Colfax has nearly 1500 people so it’s the nearest big town.
Well, it’s a rough time to sell
the house.
This time of year kids are going back to school and the market is really slow.
The good news is that our house was on a broker’s tour yesterday and we had about
25 real estate brokers come by to see the house. So I have good feelings about this.
I think getting other brokers to see the house will finally get some people to come look.
Once we get half a dozen people to see the house I’m sure one of them will love it.
It’s certainly a special house and somebody else is bound to love it.
So what am I going to do once I’m up there? Well, it’s no secret that I’m not feeling
very fulfilled at my current job. If I was writing code and working on interesting
projects I might feel better, but for the past 2 years I’ve been watching
the worse vendor on the face of the earth
screw up our project. I’ll be sure to tell some interesting stories about them
after I leave
the bank where I work.
But until then I’ll just keep plodding along.
In any case, once I’m up north I hope to be teaching music 3 days out of the week
and
building instruments two days a week.
I’ll be teaching guitar, mandolin, banjo, mountain dulcimer and
Chapman Stick to anyone who wants to learn.
So essentially I’m going to go up north, live in the woods, and be happy.
I think that’s pretty cool.
So once the house is sold it’s time to enter a whole new phase of life
called : retirement. I’m reminded of something a friend of mine once told me:
Retirement just means you get to do what you want to for a living.
I kind of like that idea. Let’s see how it works out.
