The top is glued on

In the meantime, the top is glued on. The inner braces are clamped through the long soundholes.

The next day, after the glue has dried, I take the headstock out of
the clamps. Right now it looks like a total mess. Don't Panic

After a little time on the band saw it's starting to look like a headstock.

Remember how I was choosing the grain to try to get that "flair" pattern?
Here's how it turned out.

Next, I drill 2 large holes using Forstner bits to define the basic scroll shape.

The grain inside the headstock is beautiful. The flair of the grain came out great.

The headstock still needs a lot of carving and sanding to get the shape nice and smooth.
Meanwhile, it's time to remove the tape and clamps from the body.

I'm ready to start routing the channels for the decorative binding around the edges of the body.
Because of the position of the clamps I can only do one edge at a time.
Then I have to let the glue dry before I can do the next edge. So I'll get that process
started now so it can dry while I'm working on the headstock.

When that's happening I'll post more pictures.
